Nightwish
Nightwish formed in July 1996 around a campfire. Tuomas Holopainen, Tarja Turunen and Emppu Vuorinen were the members of the band at that time. They had no drums in the band and they wanted to see what it would be like if they added drums. Jukka Nevalainen joined the band as their drummer. Their acoustic guitars were replaced with electric. In April of 1997 the band went into the recording studio. Seven songs were recorded.
Angels Fall First was released in early November.

The Carpenter was the first single released and it made it to number eight on the official singles chart in Finland. The Carpenter was also their first video made.
In the summer of 1998, Sami Vänskä, their bassist joined the band. Their next record, Oceanborn was released on December 7th of that year. It was a big sucess.
In 2000 Wishmaster was released. It went straight to number 1 on the Finnish album charts and stayed there for three weeks.
In March 2001 Nightwish entered the studio again to record their version of Gary Moore's classic Over The Hills And Far Away.
Marco Hietala joined the band in that year too.
2002, their next album Century Child.
2004, another one of their singles, Nemo was released.
2005, Tarja Turunen was fired by her band mates because of her attitude towards the band.
Now they are looking for a new singer for their band.
