Lyrics: Rough Side Of The Mountain
Rough Side Of The Mountain — lyrics
Verse 1:
Oh Lord, I'm strivin',
tryin' to make it through this barren land,
but as I go from day to day,
I can hear my Savior say,
"trust me child, come on and hold my hand."
Chorus:
I'm comin' up on the rough side of the mountain,
I must hold to God, His powerful hand.
I'm comin' up on the rough side of the mountain,
I'm doin' my best to make it in.
Chorus
Verse 2:
I'm comin' up Lord, although my burdens
sometime they press me down,
but if I can only keep this faith
I'll have strength just to run this race;
I'm lookin' for my starry crown.
Chorus
Verse 3:
This old race will be soon be over,
there'll be no more race for me to run.
And I will stand before God's throne,
all my heartaches will be gone,
I'll hear my Savior say, "welcome home".
Chorus

I first heard this song loved the song even then. Now IM 49 and truly understand the meaning. I refer to this song for peace to stay calm.
I'm an atheist, but I'll NEVER say no to traditional gospel music. It invigorates me and always puts a smile on my face.
I woke up this morning singing the chorus in my dream. I’m a cancer survivor and I am always overnight one thing or another but I keep pressing on. Each step I become stronger and more anchored. I’m doing my best to make it in! Thank you
Jesus.
Jesus.
Listening to F.C. Barnes & Company sing this song on youtube. Will be a glorious day when Jesus says 'Welcome home.'
It is. So very very true for people that are truly doing the very very best to live for the sweet LORD JESUS TODAY THEY all to often have to go up the Rough side of the mountain each and every day but they stay faithful all the way
I will de singing this song at a Black History event in Ohio. 2020. We have come a long way but we are still trying to do the best we can as a race of people. We have to be strong for the next generation.
I remember Sis. Collier singing this song in church on certain Sundays when visiting churches would visit.Sis. Smith would follow it with I Goto the Rock which is my favorite.
Great song that holds a special place in my heart. In 20016 I was addicted to meth and at the end of my rope. I checked myself into the salvation army and turned my life over to God and He redeemed me. The 2nd week in the program the ask me to sing the
second chorus as a solo. I was scared to death to sing in front of 100 plus people in the chorus, much less a solo. I stepped out in faith and God met me. Hallelujah! To God be the glory!
Ps, I'm still sober
