Lyrics: Chasing Cars
Chasing Cars — lyrics
We'll do it all
Everything
On our own
We don't need
Anything
Or anyone
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lay with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
they're not enough
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I didn't like this song at first--it seemed to saccarine. Till it occurred to me that it was a dog's point of view. Animals are in the moment. Dogs love chasing cars. They just want time together and people are busy and think that doing nothing is
bad.
bad.
This song just kind of drowns and drowns on and on. BUT the message is meaningful. But I still don't like it.
I just reheard this song on grey's anatomy, it fits so much of my life,no being with my parents to past loves that saved me, to how I wanted my 2 marriages to be, to loving my children. It's that stop and watch life go by.
This song, I could just cream over it. It's amazing, the only reason why I brought the album, and well it's a great song to listen to wen going to bed and generally all the time. Especially wen ur sad!!! It's just so cute. Hm... they're beautiful lyrics
too. Love it.

i really adore this song because it makes me reminisce on when i went to new mexico during spring break and the last night i slept with my bf on this comfy couch and we just held eachother and i felt like we were in another world b/c my fam was in TX. i

I love it but it makes me sad at times. I like how the person thinks of her 4 month old baby..how precious. I have sung it to my 2 year old also!
I like this song in a bittersweet way as it reminds me of my husband. But really after reading all the lyrics I'm wondering if the point of view is actually of a sled dog's take on life.
I think this is such a sweet song but I can't listen to it if I'm upset as it makes me feel worse. If I'm in a happy mood, it's one of my favourite songs.
I didn't like Snow Patrol at first until I heard this song and then it prompted me to listen to the rest of this album. This song has alot of meaning to it and lying in the bath just relaxing and singing away to this takes me into another world. Classic

Well this has a very haunting sound, and l will be playing it on my Radio Show, but l`m afraid l had to log on here to read the words as they were sang because singers just don`t annunciaite right nowdays, maybe it`s because the words are hard to fit to
the music or what, but does it make sense, then again Crowded House's "Don't Think It's Over" back in the 80's didn't make much sense and l play that all the time, "Chasing Cars" 7/10

I LOVE this song. For a different take on it, this is my song for my newborn son (well he's 4 months old now...). The lyrics fit us so well, right down to the garden bursting into life (his new life just beginning). I sing this to him when I'm getting him
to sleep. Makes a great lullaby! LOL
