Acoustic #3 lyrics
They painted up your secrets
With the lies they told to you
And the least they ever gave you
Was the most you ever knew
And I wonder where these dreams go
When the world gets in your way
What's the point in all this screaming
No one's listening anyway
Your voice is small and fading
And you hide in here unknown
And your mother loves your father
'Cause she's got nowhere to go
And she wonders where these dreams go
'Cause the world got in her way
What's the point in ever trying
Nothing's changing anyway
They press their lips against you
And you love the lies they say
And I tried so hard to reach you
But you're falling anyway
And you know I see right through you
Cause the world gets in your way
What's the point in all this screamin'
You're not listening anyway
With the lies they told to you
And the least they ever gave you
Was the most you ever knew
And I wonder where these dreams go
When the world gets in your way
What's the point in all this screaming
No one's listening anyway
Your voice is small and fading
And you hide in here unknown
And your mother loves your father
'Cause she's got nowhere to go
And she wonders where these dreams go
'Cause the world got in her way
What's the point in ever trying
Nothing's changing anyway
They press their lips against you
And you love the lies they say
And I tried so hard to reach you
But you're falling anyway
And you know I see right through you
Cause the world gets in your way
What's the point in all this screamin'
You're not listening anyway

Guest wrote on 13th Jul 2009, 8:14h: Johnny Rzeznik is at his songwriting best here. The song is so simple, yet so sophisticated. Running at about two and a half minutes, radio didn't get the chance to eat this one up and I'm glad for that. People need to respect it as a song, rather than a radio staple. It's so depressing (something Johnny's really good at) yet dark humor is thrown in with the lyric "And your mother loves your father/Cause she's got nowhere to go" to make the perfect blend. Actually, even THAT lyric is kind of depressing. Overa - ll, - this is one of Goo's best. It'll never top "Name", but it's up there in my opinion. Plus it's really funny at shows how he always messes up in some way. |
