Biography - The Distillers | The punk-rock act that is The Distillers was formed in late 1997 in Los Angeles, California USA, by Aussie-native, Brody Dalle, with Rose Casper on guitar, Kim Chi on bass and Matt Young on drums.
The quartet, helped by Tim Armstrong of Rancid, who later married Dalle, recorded in L.A. their self-titled debut album which was issued in April of 2000 on Epitaph Records.
The band released the second album, "Sing Sing Death House", in mid-2002, breaking into the top 30 of the Billboard Magazine's Independent chart. Meanwhile Kim Chi left the group and Ryan Sinn replaced her on bass; Casper and Young also quit the band with Andy Outbreak taking over on percussion for a while.
Brody Dalle duetted with her husband on the track "Weigh On My Mind" included on The Transplants' self-titled album and subsequently managed to reassemble her band by recruiting guitarist Tony Bradley and drummer Andy Granelli.
The following year Dalle ditched Tim Armstrong in favour of Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme and in October The Distillers released their third album, "Coral Fang", which broke into the top 100 of The Billboard 200 chart, highlighted by the Modern Rock top 30 hit single, "Drain The Blood". |
