I Write Sins Not Tragedies lyrics

Oh, well imagine; as I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor,
and I can't help but to hear, no I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words.
"What a beautiful wedding!, What a beautiful wedding!" says a bridesmaid to a waiter.
"Oh yes, but what a shame, what a shame, the poor groom's bride is a whore."

I chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing the god damn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
I'd chime in "Haven't you people ever heard of closing the god damn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of.....

Oh, well in fact, well I'll look at it this way, I mean technically our marriage is saved
Well this calls for, a toast so, pour the champagne,
Oh! Well in fact, well I'll look at it this way,
I mean technically our marriage is saved
Well this calls for a toast, so pour the champagne, pour the champagne...

I chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing the god damn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
I'd chime in "Haven't you people ever heard of closing the god damn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality...

Again......

I chime in "Haven't you people ever heard of closing the god damn door?!"
No.
It's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.
I'd chime in "Haven't you people ever heard of closing the god damn door?!"
No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.

Again......

This song sends shivers down my spine every time i listen to it. The staccato strings at the start is genius.

I think this a very original song in an epoque of bad songs that say always the same just as riddlin' kids or fall out boy. This sis a great song!

i actually think that when they are saying that the whole " closeing the damn door thing " i think it ment, that people should either put it in the open, and let the other person know BEFORE the big day, or keep the damn door shut. because in everyday situation - opening it and letting people in, especially in a horror movie, it wouldnt be a good idea - because people should keep the whole " this is me type thing " too themselves. and not only that, but who said it was the waiters buisness to begin with. - and then the whole well the marriage was saved, but with champane itll be all better in no time, which in fact he knows isnt so.

It's not that I have anything against Panic! At The Disco... It's just that I'm sick of hearing it constantly. Oh, curse you radio and MTV!...They over play music, hence my disliking towards songs such as this one! And of course I'm being melodramatic when I say this, but the constant hearing of this song as well as "Sexy Back", "Hips Don't Lie" and many others that my ears have been permanantly damaged.

for those who want to know what this song is talking about, heres the story... the brides family is all upper class and "better then you" type people, and the grooms family is entertainers and circus performers, who arent even there in the begging. Brendon is the narrator but at the same time is the alter ego of the groom. and then the grooms family breaks into the wedding and the one big guy puts magic dust over all the brides family kind of snapping them outta their boring trance. the bride gets upset and runs away and the one guy chases after her. the grooms like "wait a second...why is HE going after her?" so his alter ego takees him outside to see that his bride to be was a skank and then when they bend over and come back up and the groom is dressed how brendon was, that is when u kind of realize that brendon was just a figment of the grooms imagintation, or actually how the groom used to be. i dont know if i wrote all this clearly. just ask if u have any questions. :D

Well ,Bay, some people find 'God Damn' insulting. My mother, for example, who is highly religious hates it. Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Why in North Carolina do they censor "god" but not "damn"?

"havn't you people ever heard of, closing the, damn door" is what it is on the radio....... weird

-- origionally from CA

I agree with you Ruby but I don't have their CD. I kind of wanna get it though ^^. But I like the song "But it's better if you do" I think that's what it's called
:)

MTV , any other music channel, and the radio are horrible. Thus the reason I no longer watch/listen to it. I stick with CD's and my IPod, that way I don't get bored of the song because I don't have anything on replay. But, who would? Pretty pathetic...

I still really like this song, but it's not as good as the other songs on the album. For all of you complaining of being tired of hearing it, try listening to the rest of the album, it's quite interesting. Especially 'Build God, Then We'll Talk' and 'I Constantly Thank God For Esteban', in my opinion, the best songs on the album.

I got tired of this song and I didn't like it that much but I'm getting back into it. See that's what I don't like about radio stations and MTV and things like that. All the new songs get played over and over... and over... so that's why I don't listen to the radio anymore.

I think the song is great, but I have to admit its repetitive. And it does make sense, well I think is about how people talk about others and how this can cause problems.
I also like the music video a lot...I think it's original.
And about the god damn thing, i mean c'mon its soooo overrated!

To darkrose666:
I understand how them using the Lords name in vain can upset you, but yet you want to condemn them to hell for saying that and have used the number of the beast in your username. Isn’t that a bit paradoxical? That’s just what I think you don’t have to agree(not that you will).

i think it does make sense- at the beginning anyway... like- the waiter just dissed his wife, so he jumpz in all unhappy- maybe if they closed the door.. he wouldn't have heard? the rest i'm not quite sure of... oh well- i think it's pretty addictive even though it's repetitive xD

I'm bored with this song now.... It's been played way to much for me. In all honesty, I'm suprised this song ranks high still considering it's been out for a while. I'm not saying this is a bad song, I'm just tired of hearing it over and over....and over....
