I dunno, I may be too loyal to Tom Petty, but I just couldn't stand his cover of Free Fallin'! Also, have you ever heard his cover of Message In A Bottle? Not much of a cover, if you ask me.
Overall, Mr. Mayer is a genius at songwriting, but he never would've made it on American Idol with his covers.

I also think John should try a more hopeful and activist version: "Working on the World to Change." He could change the lyrics, talking about what people can actually do.
