Biography:
When the band members were sixteen, their dreams of rock stardom become reality. The four friends made a conscious conclusion that the music scene in Finland sucked and needed a change or at least a fresh approach.
In '96 the Rasmus released their debut album "Peep". It sold gold in no time. It was the right time to have some new kind of rock sound. This doesn't mean they didn't improve themselves by the comments the critics had. "We were just kids who were let loose on a playground", singer Lauri remembers.
They had hundreds of gigs over one year of time. Shortly after this, the band went back into the studio to record their second album Playboys. The success went on - it was certified gold as well. The Rasmus had established themselves as a household name in Finland.
They got awarded with their first Finnish Grammy, (Emma), in the category of Best New Act. The Rasmus have also been a support act for Rancid, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Garbage during the artist’s gigs in Finland.
In 1999 the third album Hellofatester was released. The forthcoming single Liquid was the Year’s Best Single.
They had a smash hit with their single F-f-f-falling which went straight to the top of the charts in Finland. The album Into followed a couple of months later and charged the charts like a rocket. Into has sold over 67 000 to date, which is well over double platinum!
After all these national successes they finally hit the international market with songs as "In The Shadows" and "The First Day Of My Life". They have performed on numerous festivals, award shows and had gigs everywhere. Thus, we of Moron.nl decided to put these artists in the spotlight!
