KINGS OF LEON was founded in 2000, but gained more popularity in 2008/2009 with their single 'Sex On Fire', which was massively plugged on the radio and television. They are also quite popular on online video community YouTube, where that same song is mentioned in a row of "mistakenly heard lyrics", with various misinterpretations of their lyrics. Those are only a few reasons why we have put Kings of Leon in the spotlights for this week.

This four-pieced bands has already released four albums, its latest release being 'Only by the night' of 2008. Their other albums include 'Youth and young manhood', 'Aha shake heartbreak' and 'Because of the times'. Even more impressive is their list of shows they have been opening for: grunge rockers Pearl Jam, the legendary Bob Dylan and U2.
The style of Kings of Leon can be described as a mix of blues, garagerock, punk, country and rock&roll. The band claims their main influences are their religious background and.. drinking Jack Daniels. They have gained popularity mainly through word of mouth and rocking major and minor national and international festivals.
The band announced they will record a new album this year, of which the title is still a mistery. According to their lead singer, a lot of their songs will be structurized quite differently from other songs with an out-of-the-box approach. All and all quite a band we should keep an eye on.
