This weeks featured artist is the BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB, in short 'BRMC'. This American alternative rock band mixes garage rock, blues, folk revival and more into their own distinctive sound, currently with 3 musicians, of which 2 of the original 1998 line-up.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club was founded in 1998. Its name was inspired by the 1953 film 'The Wild One'. The bands lyrics are influenced a lot by religion and political criticism, song titles as such include "US Government" and "Salvation".
The current members of this 3-pieced band are:
» Peter Hayes – vocals, guitar, Bass, Synth
» Robert Levon Been – vocals, bass, guitar, Piano
» Leah Shapiro – drums
Their original drummer Nick Jago was fired from the band in 2005 and joined shortly after rehab, but was finally replaced in 2008 by Leah Shapiro.
BRMC has released four albums, of which the last one 'The Effects of 333' was released independently due to several conflicts with record labels. They have announced to release a new album this year and have recently released their first live DVD of their Baby 81 world tour.
